Alyssa Joanlanne is a New York-based actor and singer. She graduated with the class of 2017 from Pace University with a B.A. in Acting and a minor in Arts and Entertainment Management. Also known as the International Performance Ensemble, the B.A. Acting program emphasizes training in devised theatre-making and collaboration.
Upon graduating, Alyssa has gravitated toward comedy and improv. She began taking classes at UCB (Upright Citizens Brigade) and also performed at the Producer’s Club with A Sketch of New York and Saturday Night Improv Jam. She currently performs every Sunday at the Broadway Comedy Club with her hilarious Improv troupe,The Exuberants. Gifted with the ability of not taking herself too seriously, comedy is where she thrives.
In 2016, Alyssa produced and starred in the absurd comedy, Cocaine, a short film directed by NYU Film graduate, William Thede. She also starred in three additional films created by William Thede, two of them included voiceover work. Her most recent project was starring in a featured role in web series, Orange-Aide, premiering July 2.
Alyssa had the opportunity to perform off-broadway and at the Sibiu International Theatre Festival in Romania with her first ensemble, Project Collaborynth. She worked with Project Collaborynth for two years before founding a smaller ensemble called The Cult Next Door Ensemble.
This group of international performers combined their training in different types of performance to produce some very extreme “of the hour” work. With TCND, she produced unique and original works the most recent being Down the Urinal Hole and Around the Corner.
This show, performed at Schaeberle Studio and Dixon Place, was based on Edgar Allen Poe’s, The Mask of the Red Death, and explored power, privilege, and unrequited love. “Drawing from the worlds of vaudeville, clowning, drag, and cult horror, we aim to entertain, unsettle, disgust, and delight,” says TCND about Down the Urinal Hole.
Alyssa is also very passionate about voiceover work. Her passion began while taking a commercial voiceover class at Pace with the incredible casting director, Stacy Tea. Her love for it grew as she delved into it even further while interning for Broadcasters, a commercial casting agency, under Stacy Tea and Lisa Fischoff. You can listen to her full voiceover demo here.
Lastly, Alyssa uses her voice for music. Influenced by country and soul, and with a classical training background, she enjoys belting out just about anything.
